An ‘Official Crypto’ assigned for the Miami Dolphins in Partnership with Litecoin

Litecoin Foundation has come on board with American football team, the Miami Dolphins to enable them accept cryptocurrency payments. The partnership between them will kick off at the start of the 2019 NFL season, 5 th September, as announced by the Litecoin Foundation yesterday. The Dolphins will from then on  regard and accept  litecoin as their “official cryptocurrency.”

Inherently, games at the Hard Rock Stadium can be paid for by fans with litecoin and bitcoin when buying tickets and they will also be able to pay for the Dolphin’s 50/50 raffle. Half of the proceeds that come from the raffle are said to be accrued to the Miami Dolphins Foundation and its charitable causes. A third partner, Aliant Payments is also in the deal to handle the enablement of the crypto payments.

Litecoin creator and managing director of the Litecoin Foundation, Charlie Lee, said:

“This collaboration propels Litecoin in front of an audience of millions of people around the world at a time where adoption of cryptocurrencies continues to gain momentum and the ecosystem is able to support real-world use cases in ways previously not possible. We see this as a powerful way to raise awareness and educate people about Litecoin and cryptocurrencies on a tremendous scale.”

Litecoin's latest move shows how vigorously they are working to get their cryptocurrency and the technology surrounding it out there. The foundation had, last December, partnered with Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), one of the leading mixed martial arts organizations. They struck a deal for the Litecoin logo to be displayed on the canvas of the fight octagon at an event involving a former UFC light heavyweight champion.

At the time of this writing, the price of litecoin is $105, up 3.4 percent over 24 hours, according to live chart data.
